You plan but life happens. Everyone has experienced a period when you have made plans and really stayed dedicated in order to reach your goals and all of a sudden you’re not where you want to be. I think everyone in this world has that in common(leave a comment if you disagree), the only difference is how we choose to deal with them.
It can be depressing not getting attaining a dream job after so many years of studies, Or bring depressed due to loneliness and loss of a loved one. Again, everyone has their way of handling a situation .
Miss Mykie , former 106 and Park host opened up about her alcohol dependence.
This past Saturday, January 13th in Houston, Texas, Miss Mykie gathered friends and family to celebrate her one year sobriety .
Breaking a bad habit is not an easy task, thus I had a quick interview with Mykie and asked her what facilitated her transition to sobriety and if she had any advice for those who are struggling to fully make that transition.
“What helped me recover was my health , I knew that I was headed towards death. I knew that I needed to do something quickly to get on track and be healthy. You have to do it for yourself. No one can make you do it. Once you get your mind right and decide to do it , nothing can stop you.” Miss Mykie
Guess what song just came on as I’m typing this article? Man in the mirror by Michael Jackson.
I’m gonna make a change, for once in my life
It’s gonna feel real good, gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right…
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change.
Those lyrics summarize my thoughts in a nutshell. Sometimes, we may see a friend or family going downhill and sometimes we want the best for them and until they decide to make a change , nothing you will say will matter. Continue to give advice and suggestions, but pray that they actually want the best for themselves and accept the truth.
Congrats to Miss Mykie for taking such big leap of faith. We are all proud of her and she is a true role model. Mykie uses her story to educate and mentor others.
Miss Mykie also created Project Rehab, a platform that allows individual to share their recovery stories, educate on the fact and mostly important different methods to get help. It is important to have support before, during and after rehabilitation. Check out www.missmykieworld for all information.

One year sobriety turned into a proposal party. Dreams do come true !!!! Her fiancé , Brian Cooper stuck by her side through thick and thin. He has seen her when she was at her lowest and he has seen her glow through the years. I wish them a lifetime of happiness.
