NOSH Culinary Showcase

Houston, Texas- some of Houston’s finest black restaurants participate in Houston’s Black Restaurant Week from April 16-29. You can enjoy flavorful American, African and Caribbean cuisines.

Black Restaurant Week supports a non profit organization called FARM (Family Agriculture Resource Management Services)which aids farmers of colors with legal and technical services.

In honor of Houston Black Restaurant Week, the NOSH Culinary Showcase took place at the Buffalo Museum, this past Thursday , April 19th, to allow foodies to enjoy multiple savory dishes in one night. ! Are you ready to feast your eyes ? Bon appetit!

Taste of The Seven Seas gave me a world tour. From sweet meatballs and chicken kabobs to fried plantains, a foodie like me did not have a choice but to try them all. At a Culinary Showcase, you have to be strategic otherwise , you’ll end up full. I took a short break, while mingling and chatting. There were a variety of craft cocktails and I had to make a few stops. I also had this delicious octopus ceviche and meat rolls.

Smoked chicken fried short ribs.

One of my favorite was Cooking with The Twist. The buttery mashed potato and well seasoned pulled brisket was delicious.

Next , we have Mikki’s Cafe with food that is good for the soul. It was just perfect. The stewed beef , Mac and cheese , collard greens, and candied yams were savory.

I took a one hour break and enjoyed some music with fellow blogger Symone , creator www.syppinwithsymone .

Symone, Kirko Bangz and myself .

It was such an honor to meet the Mayor of Houston , Sylvester Turner.

I love boudin and I was curious to try the vegan boudin! It had so much flavor. Chauncy Glover is interviewing Chef Michael Garbriel to get all the details on the yummy boudin balls.

Attendees also voted for all their favorites. There were three contestants and my favorite won the people’s choice consumer awards .

My favorite was the sugar bear. It was strong, simple and good. Only three ingredients were used.
