My Olaplex Story !
I decided to use Olaplex because my hair is chemically treated. I get a relaxer touch-up every 10-12 weeks on average. I spend extensive amount of time outdoor on a daily basis. I notice that my hair tends to be drier than usual in the summer. Incorporating Olaplex in my hair regimen made a positive impact.
My first Olaplex use was in July 2019. I fell in love with the Olaplex no.3 and I’ve been using it ever since then. I typically use the Olaplex No.3 the week after I relax my hair. Keep reading for more detail.
Olaplex Products Combination: No.0, No.3, No.4 ,No.5 and No.6.
I’ve a fan of the Olaplex no.3 but I decided to add on No.0,No.4 ,No.5 and No.6 to post-relaxer regimen.
First Impression
I used Olaplex No.0, No.3 , No.4, No.5 and No.6 all together and I’m quite impressed.
THE PROCESS
Step 1: Olaplex No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment
It is basically a primer. It is part of a two step process. When paired with Olaplex no.3 Hair Perfector, it is scientifically proven to provide 68% more repair and make the hair 3 times stronger. The Olaplex No.0 contains the highest amount of the patented ingredients in any of their at-home products.
How To: Apply in dry hair starting from tip to roots. Make sure to saturate each section. Leave in hair for 10 minutes.
Thoughts : The Olaplex No.0 has a water-like consistency and it is clear. It gets absorbed into the hair fast. Do not rinse!
Step 2: Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector
I’m not new to Olaplex No.3 but this time around , I applied after applying Olaplex No.0. I applied it tip to root and made sure my hair was well saturated. It is instructed to leave it on for 10 minutes or longer but I find that the longer you leave it on, the better . I left it on for about an hour. I did use a shower cap. Note: The Olaplex No.3 is not a conditioner.
Thoughts: The Olaplex No.3 is creamy and easy to apply. Upon finding out my hair, I noticed that my hair had incredibly more strength. I detangled as I was rinsing out my hair and the comb was gliding through my hair so easily.
Step 3: Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo
I shampoo’d three times with the Olaplex No.4 Shampoo. It promises to nourish, reduce breakage and strengthen.
Thoughts: The shampoo is creamy and lustrous. A little goes a long way, it lathers very well. I love the fact that it is a detangling shampoo. It is sulfate-free. It cleanses the hair without stripping and tangling it. After rinsing out the shampoo, my hair was feeling so smooth. I love it !
Step 4: Olaplex No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner
An ultra-moisturizing conditioner for all hair types that promises to nourish and make the hair more manageable.
Thoughts: I applied the Olaplex No.5 conditioner in wet hair from tip to root. I then applied a shower cap and waited 30 minutes before rinsing .
Note: The instructions states to leave it for just 3 minutes. I made it a deep conditioning session by leave it on for longer. The Olaplex No.5 conditioner has great slip, meaning that it melts the tangles away which helps facilite detangling. It did a great job at hydrating my hair.
Step 5: Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother
It is a highly concentrated leave-in treatment. I love the fact that it speeds up the drying time. It does contain hydrolized vegetable protein which is the 27th ingredient on the list. It strengthens the hair but also moisturizes it.
Thoughts: I decided to wear my hair straight. I applied the Olaplex No.6 leave-in on damp hair and used rollers to set my hair. I sat under the dryer for 45 minutes. I usually sit under the dryer for an hour . The Olaplex No.6 definitely speeds up the drying time. My hair is super soft and sleek. It feels like I went to a salon and got a blow out ! I didn’t even use direst heat !
